All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and whoever comes to Me I will never cast out.

Jesus - in John 6:37

Do I have to believe in God/Jesus to come to church at Port Townsend Adventist?

  • The fact that you are here, on this page - right now - is evidence that God's Spirit is speaking to your heart and calling you to experience His love for you.

  • null

Here you will connect with all classes of minds and people. While each individual's needs differ widely, still, in our commonality, everyone needs kindness, sympathy, and respect. Tied closely by our humanity, we are all brothers and sisters, dependent on each other. By God's grace, as we mutually associate with each other, our minds are continually sharpened in the things of heaven: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

  • John 6:37 says "All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and whoever comes to Me I will never cast out."

  • You are welcome here friend! If you've found comfort in what you've read - You've just found home!

  • If you want to be part of a Bible-based group of believers - come check us out!

As a new person, will I have to do anything weird say anything, sign anything or be singled out?

  • null

We love to warmly welcome each person upon arrival. You may be asked to sign the guest book, however that is ultimately up to you. Names of visitors are not read from the front and you will not be asked to speak.

  • No one is forced to participate beyond what they are comfortable with. We do hope your experience in this house of worship is positive, filled with spiritual renewal and leaves you filled with a desire to return.

What do you believe?

  • In short,  Adventists believe in a Trinity of three persons - the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit - make up one God. They made salvation possible when Jesus, the Son, came to earth as a baby in Bethlehem and lived a sinless life in accordance with the Father's will.

When Jesus was crucified for the sins of the people of the world and arose from the dead on the third day, victory was won for everyone.

When He returned to heaven following the resurrection, Jesus left the Holy Spirit to serve as our Comforter and Counselor. He promised to return to earth a second time to complete His plan of salvation and take His people to heaven. Adventists are among the believers who look forward to that day.

Adventists believe that God is concerned with the quality of human life, and that everything--the way we live, eat, speak, think, treat each other, and care for the world around us--is a part of His plan. Our families, our children, our jobs, our talents, our money, and our time are all important to Him.

Is there a dress code?  What should I wear to church?

  • null

We invite you to come just as you are. We want you to feel comfortable. You’ll see all styles of dress at Port Townsend Adventist: jeans and a t-shirt, casual shirt and slacks, and suit & tie or a nice dress.

  • Port Townsend is a tourist destination and people are pleasantly surprised when they discover us while exploring our beautiful, port city. They come in, as they are, to join us in worship and fellowship.

What about my kids? Do my kids attend with me?

  • Its great for families to experience worship, prayer, praise and learning together.

While they are welcome to stay with you the entire time, we do have a Bible School class for children at 9:30 am each Saturday during the adult morning study hour before the worship service. The children's class is generally geared for ages 6 to 12.

  • At 10:40 Families rejoin for praise and worship in the sanctuary. Children participate in collecting the tithes and offerings with the deacons then enjoy a story especially for kids. This gives the little ones a chance to stretch and get their wiggles out before the sermon.

I have older kids; where do they go?

  • While this church does have extra rooms that would so welcome and accommodate a

youth group, we regret to say we are currently praying for God to expand our children's ministries and bring us more families with youth. Older kids are welcome to join our children's leaders with the younger kids adding their unique insights and talents to Bible study and praise!

  • Our adult study class welcomes seekers of all ages and values their perspectives in the study of God's word. During the worship service at 11 am, kids are welcome to join everyone in the sanctuary for praise, prayer and experience the word of God from our pastor or guest speaker.

What is the worship experience like at Port Townsend Adventist? What happens during the worship time?

  • Our services generally begin with a warm welcome and announcements to learn about upcoming events or opportunities to get involved with. We praise God through uplifting songs (both new ones and old ones). If

you play an instrument or enjoy singing, we'd love to have you share your talents with us. Time is made for those who desire to voice praises or prayer requests. A leader of the church will lift these requests up to God in prayer during the congregational prayer time as everyone who can kneels in reverence.

  • Children help the deacons collect the tithes and offerings then get to enjoy a story time especially for kids just before the sermon. This gives the children a chance to get their wiggles out before the sermon. You will hear a teaching from the Bible with relevant application to daily life. Pastor Collette is with us the 2nd and 4th Saturday's each month. We invite guest speakers to share the Word of God with us on weeks of her absence. The total worship service lasts about one hour to an hour and 20 minutes.

What should I bring?

First of all, it's nice to bring a friend so you have someone you know  while you make new acquaintances and friends on your visit here. If not you will feel at home here in no time. Other things you might think to bring are a Bible, pen and paper to take notes on as the message is presented.

  • Some people use a Bible app and take notes on their favorite electronic device using the church WiFi. This makes it easier to reflect on or share with someone else when the opportunity arises later. If you don't have your own copy of the Bible just ask and we will give you one to call your own, or if you simply forgot to bring your own we can loan you one while you're here with us.

Where do I park?

The church is located on the SW corner of Benton and Jefferson streets. There is parking along the front and side of the church, though as we are a tourist community we never know quite how many attenders there will be from week to week. Around here everyone parks along side neighborhood streets when parking around the church is full. This is reasonably common and part of the Port Townsend way of life.

Where should I sit?

Please feel free to sit anywhere you feel comfortable. :-) Nobody has dibs, claims or reservations on any seat in God's house.

There is a small mother's room available with things for your children to do if you feel you need to take them out of the sanctuary. The mother's room does have a window for viewing into the sanctuary and there is a speaker on the wall that can be turned on so you can hear the worship service.
